Andrea's Hope Foundation makes grants to hospice care providers and other healthcare providers so that women battling ovarian cancer can find peace and comfort during their final difficult days with their loved ones. The foundation is committed to helping patients obtain the pharmaceuticals, palliative care and support, and other necessities that health insurance does not always cover. Grants also will be made to advance research and education that will improve the early diagnosis and treatment of ovarian cancer.
Andrea's Hope Foundation was founded in memory of Andrea Harris, who lived an active, healthy lifestyle as a competitive distance runner, cross-country skier, and bicycle racer. She avoided processed food and red meat for more than 40 years; everything she ate was organic and pesticide-free. Andrea was diagnosed with fallopian tube cancer in March of 2015. After an initial positive response to treatment, including surgery and chemotherapy, the cancer was back with a vengeance. As she battled with the strength and grace that marked her entire life, home hospice care helped her to be as comfortable as possible and prepared her family for what was to come. Part of the legacy of this wonderful, creative, strong woman is Andrea's Hope Foundation. The generous support of community members like you will enable women with ovarian cancer and their families to benefit from the same kind of compassionate care and support that Andrea and her family received.
